988 is an easy-to-remember, three-digit number people can call, text, or chat 24/7/365 to connect with skilled, caring, and judgment-free crisis counselors. 988 supports people experiencing emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, mental health concerns, or substance use crises. It also supports loved ones who are worried about someone and need help knowing what to do.

211 Broward is proud to serve as Broward County’s local 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline center. When someone in our community calls 988, they are connected with trained crisis counselors who provide compassionate, confidential, and judgment-free support during moments of emotional distress, suicidal crisis, mental health concerns, or substance use-related crisis.
Our counselors listen, assess for safety, help callers de-escalate, create safety plans when needed, and connect individuals to local resources and supports. As part of the national 988 Lifeline network, 211 Broward provides local care with the support of a nationwide crisis response system.
