LISA KITEI,
Broward Center for the Performing Arts

If Lisa Kitei is not in her office at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, you can most likely find her on one of Broward County’s spectacular golf courses. Lisa took up golf about five years ago and like everything in life, she plays to win. As a native New Yorker, Lisa has always loved the theater. One of her favorite shows is The Lion King. When Lisa worked as VP, Marketing for Disney Theatrical Productions, her office was right upstairs from the theater and every night she and her associates would run down to see the opening scene when the animals walk down the aisles. Lisa describes this as one of the most magical moments in theater.

It seemed only fitting for Lisa to return to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Lisa first worked at the Broward Center as a Marketing Consultant for the Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District back in 2002 and two years ago she rejoined the team at the BCPA as the Executive Director of the Broward Performing Arts Foundation, the fund-raising organization for the Center. She also serves as the VP of Development for the Center.

When given the chance to talk about the Broward Center for the Performing Arts Lisa shares the fact that the Center has the largest free arts in education program in the country, with over 150,000 school-aged children participating each year – over two million to date. Gifts to the Foundation help to support the Center’s educational programs, among many other things. Lisa is also very excited about the Foundation’s most recent initiative, the Classical Society. The Classical Society was launched in order to support the Center’s new Classical Series, and keep classical programming alive in our community. There are many benefits to the Classical Society, such as VIP ticketing, special events, etc. For more information about the Classical Society or how you can get involved with the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, go to http://www.browardcenter.org/support/foundation.aspx.

Lisa’s Trivia Question: Nearly 20 years ago the Broward Center cost $53 million to build. What is the current economic impact of the Broward Center on our community each year? (For the answer to this email Lisa at lkitei@browardcenter.org.)
