Summer STEPS 2008
If you are an individual or know an individual with a developmental, cognitive, hearing, physical, or vision disability, we have 80 full-time (30 hours per week) openings at businesses, non-profit organizations, and government worksites throughout Broward County.
You must:
* Be a Broward resident, ages 16 to 21.
* Have a confirmed disability as listed above
* Have your own transportation
* Be willing to improve employability skills
* Work 30 hours per week
* Attend mandatory interview and orientation programs.
You will:
* Have the services of a full-time job coach onsite
* Receive $6.79 per hour and lots of training
* Learn real world employability

ESE Students are getting a "L.I.F.T" in Broward County!
Learning Independence thru Focused Transition (L.I.F.T.) is a multi-faceted youth development program in an afterschool/out of school environment designed specifically to meet the needs of high school age adolescents with developmental, physical, vision, or hearing disabilities who require intensive social, vocational and communication supports not readily available elsewhere in Broward County. Services are designed to build on strengths, while providing small group activities to improve social, communication, relationship building, employability, and career skills.
L.I.F.T. / S.T.E.P.S. programs shall serve high school adolescents with established developmental and physical disabilities who need to acquire additional social skills, social pragmatics, career and employability skills, communicate more effectively, and who require training and assistance in mastering daily living skills. Program participants ages 16 - 21 must not be enrolled in other afterschool programs. All participants must have documented evidence of a disability and be currently enrolled in an approved educational program. Sites are avaiable county-wide!
