Non-Profit Board Leader of the Year
(excerpts from their nomination letters)
Cathy Donnelly / President and incoming Chair for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County
Cathy Donnelly is the modern-day Super Woman. She serves as Director of Community Relations for her husband's company, Castle Group, volunteers for numerous organizations, and serves as President and incoming Chair for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County.
A BGCBC board member since 2004, she started K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Service Program) in August of that year in one club in Davie. K.I.S.S. is a free nutritious snack program including fresh fruit, milk, yogurt, cheese and vegetables for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County.
Two years ago, Donnelly worked with the Department of Health to secure additional funding for the program and expand the snack program to include supper, too. Today K.I.S.S. serves a free, nutritious snack and supper each school day in all 11 Broward County Clubs, reaching approximately 12,000 youth annually.
Donnelly champions the Boys and Girls Clubs of Broward County wherever she goes. She not only lends her expertise to the organization, but she regularly volunteers to plan and staff events and is often the first to arrive and the last to leave.
Her tireless work for our organization has propelled it to new heights. She inspires so many of us to reach beyond ourselves to make a difference in our members' lives.

Heather Keir / Susan B. Anthony Center
Most 23-year-olds are occupied spending time with friends and trying to figure out what they want in life. However, Heather Keir, who joined the Susan B. Anthony Center's Board of Directors in 2007, has accomplished more in the past four years and has done more to promote our cause than many Board Members twice her age.
As the Vice President of Community Bank of Broward, Keir combines her business savvy with her community volunteerism to develop new fundraising and collaboration methods for the Center that bring many other agencies and corporations together to focus on one common goal.
Over the past four years, Keir has successfully linked many new individuals to the Center and engaged other organizations and stakeholders in providing much-needed services at little or no cost to the Center.
Keir is a true ambassador for the Susan B. Anthony Center. She has demonstrated her commitment to the Center's mission by developing a new Auxiliary Board for the Center, where she also sits as Secretary. The Auxiliary Board generates new revenue for the Center to ensure program services will be sustained and allow the Center to continually grow.
Keir's great love for at-risk children brought her to the Susan B. Anthony Center where she is a champion for the underserved women and children we serve. Her main focus is to bring awareness of the vital services and miracles that occur each and every day at the Center.
