What is 2-1-1?

2-1-1 is a national, easy to remember, easy to use three digit phone number that will enable people in need to receive 24/7/365 information and referrals to health and human services, crisis/suicide intervention, community resources and disaster related services.

2-1-1 currently serves 196 million Americans, 57% of the US population. As of August 2006 there are 192 active 2-1-1 call systems in 41 states. There are presently 16 2-1-1 call centers serving Florida. 2-1-1 First Call For Help (2-1-1 Broward) is the local provider of 2-1-1.

Simply dialing 2-1-1, or 954-537-0211, connects callers with specially trained information and referral (I&R) counselors who can help the callers begin finding solutions to their problems. The idea is simple— one number to call: 2-1-1. Calls are toll-free, confidential and anonymous from anywhere in Broward County.
